These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of shorestack Books ("the Service"), a bookkeeping application operated by Days Management LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By purchasing a license or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
The shorestack Books application is downloadable desktop bookkeeping software for macOS, designed for freelancers, e-commerce founders, and small business owners. The Service allows you to import bank statements, categorize transactions, generate financial reports, create invoices, and manage your books. The Service is a desktop application for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 11 or later, and operates on a local-first architecture: your company file is stored on your Mac, and we hold no copy of it.
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding legal agreement to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
You will receive a license key tied to the email address used at purchase. To activate the Service, you enter this license key on first launch of the desktop application. There is no user account: the license key is your proof of purchase, and you are responsible for keeping it secure. You agree to notify us immediately if you believe your license key has been compromised.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful bookkeeping and financial management purposes. You agree not to:
The desktop application is sold under a one-time purchase, single-user license model. Your purchase entitles you to one user with activation on up to two Macs you own (for example, a desktop and a laptop).
You retain full ownership of all financial data, transactions, reports, and other content you create or import into the Service ("Your Data"). We do not claim any ownership over Your Data. Because the Service runs locally on your Mac, Your Data is processed on your device and is never transmitted to us.
You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of Your Data. The Service provides tools for categorizing transactions and generating reports, but you are ultimately responsible for verifying the accuracy of your financial records.
The Service interacts with a small set of third-party providers: our payments provider (purchase and license-key validation), SimpleFIN (optional live bank feeds), and Better Stack (optional, off-by-default crash reports). Your use of these integrations is subject to each provider's terms of service and privacy policies, described further in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the operation, availability, or data practices of these third-party services.
When you connect a bank feed through SimpleFIN, you authorize SimpleFIN to provide read-only transaction data from your financial institution. You can disconnect a feed at any time in the Service, which deletes its access credential from your Mac.
We strive to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Online components (update checks, license validation at activation, and bank feeds) may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Because the Service operates locally on your device, core bookkeeping functionality remains available regardless.
Every purchase is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. To request a refund, reply to your receipt email or write to contact@shorestack.io within 30 days of purchase. Refunds are processed to the original payment method within three business days of request, without justification required.
Duplicate charges are refunded automatically within 24 hours of detection. Refund requests received after 30 days are reviewed case-by-case and typically approved for product defects or duplicate purchases.

The Service is a bookkeeping tool, not a financial advisor or tax preparer. The Service generates reports (including P&L, Balance Sheet, and year-end tax handoff packages) based on data you provide, but these should not be considered professional financial or tax advice. We strongly recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax professional for tax filing and financial planning decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Days Management LLC and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.
Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, that financial calculations will be perfectly accurate, or that the Service will meet all of your bookkeeping requirements. You use the Service at your own risk.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Days Management LLC from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may revoke a license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases — but Your Data remains in your local company files, and you may export it at any time using the built-in export tools.
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in California.
